AFPI Recognizes National Poll Worker Recruitment Day

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) recognizes National Poll Worker Recruitment Day today, August 11. Poll workers are a critical part of elections infrastructure. They are the boots on the ground for making sure election administration serves American voters. Poll workers are the ones scanning ballots, checking in voters, and keeping an eye on the voting process. As such, it’s essential that poll workers are held to the highest standard of accountability.

“President John F. Kennedy once said: ‘every citizen… is in a position of responsibility and, in the final analysis, the kind of government we get depends upon how we fulfill those responsibilities,’” said Ken Blackwell, chair for Election Integrity at AFPI. “President Kennedy was right, and it is the poll worker who serves as the first line of defense in protecting our elections. They have a responsibility to protect our right to self-governance. I urge my fellow citizens to take up the mantle of civic responsibility and volunteer in your local precincts.”
