AFPI Responds to DOJ 2A Rule
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) has released the following statement from Knox Williams, senior fellow for American Justice, in response to the new federal regulation by the U.S. Department of Justice ensuring eligible Americans can apply to restore their federal firearms rights.
“The right to bear arms is constitutional—and our government cannot be allowed to strip Americans who pose no public safety threat of their right to protect themselves, their property, their families, and their neighbors,” said Williams. “For over 30 years, nearly 30 million Americans were denied their right to own firearms. Now, they will have an opportunity to appeal to restore their rights. I am heartened to see the Trump Administration’s efforts to protect our Second Amendment rights.”
The Trump Administration has taken unprecedented action to restore the right of Americans to bear arms, as the Founders intended. AFPI has also recently released a roadmap for the dismantling of the National Firearms Act (NFA), which imposes burdensome regulations on purchasers and sellers of common use firearms and accessories.
