America First Policy Institute Announces New Leadership of Hispanic Leadership Coalition

February 4, 2026

Washington, D.C.—The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) is proud to announce Alfonso Aguilar as the new Director of the Hispanic Leadership Coalition (HLC).

A longtime leader, advocate, and strategist, Aguilar brings decades of experience in public policy, coalition-building, and community engagement to this role. As Director, Aguilar will lead HLC’s efforts to strengthen Hispanic outreach, develop policy-driven initiatives, and expand the coalition’s national impact.

Aguilar’s appointment follows the strong recommendation and advocacy of Bob Unanue, Chair of AFPI’s Hispanic Leadership Coalition, who urged that the position be formally filled to further advance the coalition’s mission and growth.

Unanue, who is also past Chairman, CEO, and President of Goya Foods; Chair of AFPI’s America Combats Child Exploitation (ACCE); and a past Commissioner on President Trump’s White House Commission for Hispanic Prosperity, offered the following comment about the announcement:

The Hispanic Leadership Coalition plays a critical role in advancing policies that strengthen families, create opportunity, and uphold the values that make our nation exceptional. I strongly recommended Alfonso Aguilar for this role, and with his leadership and the continued service of these respected advisors, HLC is well positioned to expand its impact and elevate Hispanic voices across the country.”

In addition to Aguilar’s appointment, AFPI is announcing the following leadership additions to HLC:

  • Congressman Mike Garcia, Advisor to the Hispanic Leadership Coalition and Chair of AFPI’s California state chapter
  • Vince Torres, Advisor to the Hispanic Leadership Coalition and Executive Director of AFPI’s New Mexico state chapter
  • Chris Lopez, Hispanic Outreach Coordinator, Hispanic Leadership Coalition

Under this strengthened leadership team, HLC will continue advancing its mission to educate, engage, and empower Hispanic Americans while advancing America First policy solutions that promote economic prosperity, educational opportunity, and a strong national culture.
