Former Acting DHS Secretary Chad F. Wolf Commends Charges Against Minneapolis Antifa Members
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the announcement by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) of charges against multiple defendants for a conspiracy to impede or injure federal officers, AFPI's Chair of Homeland Security & Immigration and former acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad F. Wolf released the following statement:
"Organized political violence is resurging, and it’s the same radicalism that we see repeatedly in Chicago, Portland, and Newark as well as many other sanctuary jurisdictions that were destroyed by radical policies. What unfolded in Minneapolis earlier this year was not a protest — it is a coordinated conspiracy to violently obstruct federal immigration officers enforcing our laws.
The men and women of Immigration and Customs Enforcement risk their lives to keep Americans safe. Plotting to injure them is an attack on the rule of law itself, and it must be met with the full weight of the justice system. President Trump was right to designate Antifa as a terrorist organization —and these charges show why. I commend the U.S. Attorney's office and HSI, and AFPI will continue to support every effort to confront the radical left’s ongoing addiction to political violence."
