Impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas

Today, AFPI's Chad Wolf, former Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), released the following statement on the impeachment of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:

“Today, the House of Representatives has taken unprecedented action to deliver accountability for the ongoing crisis at the border. Over the past three years, the DHS Secretary has systematically taken steps to obfuscate the truth, abuse his authority and refuse to implement border security law. These are not simply policy disputes; the Secretary’s actions have caused and are causing serious harm to Americans and migrants alike. His actions have endangered Border Patrol agents, enriched criminal cartels, and have facilitated the largest human trafficking enterprise in modern history.

This impeachment, the first of a Cabinet Secretary in almost 150 years, underscores the gravity of the crisis along our border and the urgent need to restore public trust by holding the Secretary accountable.”
