President Trump’s New Rescissions Package to End Waste Fraud, and Abuse of Taxpayer Money

Greg Sindelar August 29, 2025

Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Greg Sindelar, Interim President and CEO, regarding President Trump's new $4.9 billion pocket rescissions package:

"We are glad to see this decisive action by the Trump Administration that aims to save taxpayers nearly $5 billion by rescinding wasteful foreign aid and woke international organization funding that violates America First priorities. This rescission is the latest in the President's long track record of restoring accountability to Washington, ending wasteful spending and foreign aid that conflicts with American values, and putting the American taxpayers first. This package reinforces a crucial pillar of the America First Agenda: that taxpayer money should only support institutions and efforts that align with America First principles."

Pocket rescissions are a historic and essential tool for the executive branch to rein in waste, fraud, and abuse and ensure that the American government works for the American people, not against them. This latest package builds on the $9 billion rescissions package previously passed by Congress and the $3 billion in savings announced by President Trump earlier this year and will save taxpayers over $117 billion over the next ten years. This is in addition to the $1.5 trillion in mandatory savings already provided by the One Big Beautiful Bill passed by America first champions in Congress and signed into law by President Trump.
