Recissions: End Waste, Fraud, and Abuse of Taxpayer Money
Washington D.C.— Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) issued the following statement from Greg Sindelar, Interim President and CEO,regarding the proposed $9.4 billion recissions package requiring congressional action:
“AFPI proudly supports President Trump’s $9.4B rescissions package to save taxpayer money, fulfilling a critical promise of the America First Agenda. The package codifies DOGE cuts and eliminates wasteful spending on radical DEI and gender ideology initiatives, foreign aid, and progressive public broadcasting agencies. Congress should move swiftly to consider and accept this request.”
The White House transmitted its request to Congress this week to rescind previously appropriated funds through a rescissions package, which requires congressional acceptance. The America First approach recognizes the U.S. as the leader of the free world. AFPI prioritizes accountability of our citizens, meaning the government should only grant taxpayer money to institutions that align with American values, which AFPI discusses extensively in its research, including in a 2022 research report and an early analysis of congressional actions, highlighting the need for Congress to accept a recissions package from the Trump Administration’s Office of Management and Budget and outlines these cuts to USAID.
