AFPI-Georgia Responds to Legislative Action on Election Integrity Proposal
Washington, D.C.—Rebecca Yardley, Chair of the America First Policy Institute’s (AFPI) Georgia Chapter, released the following statement after the Georgia Senate tabled a proposal to prohibit foreign nationals from contributing to or participating in state and local campaigns:
“Recent legislative action highlights an ongoing conversation about a basic principle: Georgia’s elections are best decided by American citizens, not influenced by foreign actors. States have a clear role to play in closing gaps and ensuring their election systems are fully protected.
Public confidence in Georgia’s elections depends on systems that are secure, transparent, and free from outside influence. This policy would have provided clarity and strengthened enforcement at the state level without burdening lawful participation in the democratic process.
Although this policy did not advance in the Senate, the need for strong, commonsense election safeguards remains. Georgia’s election framework continues to play a key role in maintaining the integrity of every vote and protecting the voice of its citizens.”
