AFPI’s Dr. Alveda King Condemns SPLC’s “Profiteering from Division”
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI)’s Dr. Alveda King, Chair of the American Dream, delivered a powerful rebuke of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in testimony before the House Judiciary Committee during the hearing “The Southern Poverty Law Center: Manufacturing Hate, Part II,” accusing the organization of fueling division while claiming to fight it.
Dr. King raised serious concerns about the SPLC’s conduct, pointing to allegations in a recent federal indictment and calling into question how donor funds are being used:
“Americans who faithfully donate their hard-earned money to organizations they believe are fighting racism and hatred deserve transparency and accountability about how those funds are being used,” said Dr. King. “My family legacy reflects the very truth that America is strongest when we recognize our common humanity. That is why I am troubled by the conduct and messaging of organizations that claim to fight hatred, while profiteering from division.”
Weaponizing accusations of hate for political or financial gain erodes public trust. As Congress continues its oversight, Dr. King’s testimony serves as a stark reminder that the fight against hatred must be rooted in truth, accountability, and a commitment to unity.
