Keep Education in the Swamp? 

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released the following statement from Michael Shires, Ph.D., vice chair of Education Opportunity, regarding Senate efforts to block policies that would return education to the states:
"Fifty years and trillions of dollars later, no federal agency has ever taught a child to read. President Trump promised to give authority back to the parents, teachers, and states that do this work, and the Department of Education is delivering on that promise by partnering with the agencies that already run the programs families use.

Some in Congress want to halt this work. Policies blocking Ed from partnering with other agencies mean keeping bureaucrats in D.C. in control of our students, teachers, and communities. States, teachers, and parents, backed by a government that does its job efficiently and gets out of the way, are the only path forward. Unfortunately, there are some on the HELP Committee who fail to recognize this.”
